Camelia Skikos

Camelia Skikos is a conceptual womenswear brand based in San Francisco and launched in 2010 by the Romanian designer who gives the brand its name. Developing her brand as a creative playground to explore new aesthetic boundaries Camelia Skikos design philosophy stems from a continuing fascination with the way garments can make an impact on our lives, based on the unconscious relations between the human being and the garments we wear. Comprehending metaphysics of the form and its antipode, volumes and silhouettes, surfaces and voids, contours and texture, her designs come to dialogue with the human body resulting in a multidimensional effect of innovation, dynamism and a sophisticated sense of femininity with an edge. Designing everything at her San Francisco studio, Camelia Skikos ideology stands for consciousness and humanity. All garments are made of cruelty-free materials. In an effort to maintain a small environmental footprint, the entire collections are manufactured locally in limited quantities. Each garment in this collection is individually painted by hand.

Materials & Ingredients
We are using limited quantities of cruelty-free materials, organic fabrics, recycled and leftovers from vendors in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Each garment fabric is individually hand painted by me with organic non-toxic paint.

Packaging & Delivery
Aiming to reduce waste, we keep all of our packaging to a minimum. When necessary, we use certified sustainable packaging, biodegradable, 100% recycled materials.

Quality & Value
We believe our products should be ethical, timeless and very well made. We don’t follow seasonal trends and our clothes are designed to last for a very long time and be part of a responsible life cycle.

Our direct clients benefit from a Repair Service, which applies for extensive wear and tear of our garments or accidents such as bleach marks, rips and cuts. We advise the clients on how to fix things themselves or we take the product and fix it for them.

Waste Reduction
In order to maintain a truly ethical process, we produce minimum stocks and work on a made to order basis, thus reducing the waist and over-production. We also use all the leftover fabrics and design only one collection a year.

Local Supply Chains
It is essential for us to use local resources. All of our products are manufactured locally under good conditions, in compliance with environmental legislation. We personally monitor our service suppliers to ensure that they are supporting local safe and fair working conditions, commitment to our ethical conduct and that our products are made with integrity. We believe in fair and equal pay and working with suppliers that share our vision. It is very important for us to choose suppliers that have responsible business models and produce zero environmentally toxic discharges.

Goals & Aspirations
Our goals are to continue our sustainable practices and to minimize waste even more by reducing the number of products to a minimum and work only on a made to order basis.

Certifications & Memberships
We have green/sustainable certifications from our fabric suppliers and we regularly donate to green/sustainable organizations such as GreenPeace.
