Design Principles for Actionable Ethics

June 22 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Workshop + Happy Hour: Equitable and ethical design principles should guide our everyday decisions, but they can get lofty and aspirational quickly. Please join us on this experiment to review and edit an ever-evolving set of decision-making principles together. In this workshop, we will break into groups and apply them to retrospectively propose some alternative solutions to early decisions at two companies whose products and services have shaped industries and the way we live.
For the purpose of diverse attendees being able to participate equally, we will look back at WeWork and Uber as commonly known examples of companies with great missions and talent that are all over pop culture for terrible ethical mistakes. We will share diverse sources people can review before the date if they want to dig deeper into the context of these companies.

As an exercise in hindsight, we will move past judging and act together to propose ways in which we can protect our future design decisions from ethical failures.

We look forward to seeing you and working together towards actionable design principles for radically hopeful and inclusive futures.

We are grateful to our sponsor Frog Design, for hosting us. This event wouldn’t have been able to happen without them!
