SUMMARY:Behind the Scenes Look at Building a Creative Space
DESCRIPTION:Do creatives need a home? Why does a physical space for the creative industry matter? Join the founders of Ciel Creative Space as they discuss their intentions for opening 55\,000 square feet of creative studios\, and the philosophy behind it all\, Urban Acupuncture. \nLocated in Berkeley\, California\, and stretching an entire city’s block\, Ciel Creative Space is a multi-use space spanning 55\,000 square feet. Containing 10 studios varying in size from 1\,000 to 3\,700 square feet\, an inviting coworking area featuring both open desks & private offices\, and lush greenery everywhere you look\, this unique space was designed with the intention to inspire and enhance productivity for industry professionals.\nMeet the founders of Ciel\, Cecilia Caparas Apelin and Alexis Laurant\, as they have a candid conversation about the philosophy behind Ciel – Urban Acupuncture. Just like acupuncture is aimed at relieving stress in the human body\, the goal of urban acupuncture is not to disrupt a neighborhood or city\, but to release tension and ultimately allow the energy to be released and flow naturally. \nThis conversation will be held in our newest wing of Ciel\, Studio Zero. Studio Zero is our members-only studio space\, filled with state-of-the-art podcast recording booths\, a lounge\, a coworking space\, and an event venue. Whether you’re a seasoned podcaster or simply curious about the world of audio storytelling\, our Grand Opening of Studio Zero is the perfect opportunity to connect\, learn\, and be inspired. \nDon’t miss out on this unique opportunity on Sunday\, June 9th from 11am-2pm to experience the magic of our studio space\, listen to the thoughtful conversations around design and innovation\, and meet new people in your industry. Bubbly\, coffee\, and light bites will be provided.

SUMMARY:MMclay "Pop-Up" Marketplace: Intentional Living through Culinary Connections
DESCRIPTION:At MMclay\, our work is created as a reminder of the slow beauty that can only be created by human hands. Our attention is put into slower and manual processes\, creating work that brings people together while making everyday moments special–from your morning coffee to a dinner party.   For this event\, we aim to celebrate Attention with Intention: what we do or make is thoughtfully crafted and makes everyday moments special\, particularly around dining.   We’re partnering with a small selection of vendors to celebrate this theme. \nAttendees are welcome to stop by anytime between 11:15-4:30.

SUMMARY:Chronos vs. Kairos: The Battle for Attention
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an interactive discussion and exploration of time. How do we experience it? Are we using it wisely? The technological advancements of the digital age enable us to keep our calendars full and our lives productive as ever\, but at what cost? \n\nThe ancient Greeks had two concepts of time. Chronos is quantitative time\, measured in years\, months\, weeks\, days\, hours\, minutes\, seconds. Kairos\, is qualitative time or also known as “Deep Time”\, an experience where our perception of Chronos stops or disappears\, and we’re able to be truly present. \nThis event will invite you to examine and explore how these two concepts play out\, and consider how we may cultivate greater mindfulness and deeper experiences in our daily lives and design practices. \nBrought to you by:\nPact Studio – Creating meaningful\, unmistakable brands.\nExistential Co. – Storyteller exploring life\, death\, and meaning.\nDavid Bill – Service Designer and UX’er interested in history\, systems thinking\, human behavior\, and the role of technology.

SUMMARY:Women in Leadership & Design (WILD) Jam: Focus Your Vision
DESCRIPTION:We are redirecting the attention of our Women in Leadership & Design (WILD) community through a vision boarding party during SF Design Week. Vision boarding is an inspiring creative tool for focusing one’s attention on a better\, more intentional future — a major part of both SFDW’s and WILD’s reasons for being. When we give our hopes\, dreams\, and wishes form — whether we put them in words by writing them down\, or make them tangible through visual design — they are more likely to become a reality. So we will gather\, with magazines and collage materials\, to bring our unique visions for creating a better world and daily life\, together.  \nWe will provide thematic creative prompts ahead of the session\, such as ‘How do you want to show up bold?’ to guide all participants in selecting powerful images to work with\, that uplift and elevate our mission and purpose. Participants are encouraged to bring their own inspirational materials\, adding a personal touch to their vision boards and enhancing the collective creativity of our WILD community. We are excited to ignite change through art and design. As this year’s ‘Attention’ theme suggests\, we seek to bring together a global and intersectional community of designers\, strategists\, artists\, and activists to focus on connections yet to be made. Learn more about WILD here. \nAgenda: \n\n3:30-3:45: Gathering and mingling\n3:45-4:00: Brief introductions and intentions.\n4:00-5:15: Vision boarding; 5 minute break moments will happen throughout the creation session to share ideas\, works in progress\, and reflections.\n5:15-5:45: Share vision boards with one another\n5:45-6:00: Wrap up & goodbyes\n\nThis WILD Jam session will be held at The Box SF\, the former ‘William Randolph Hearst Printing Plant’ and one of San Francisco’s premier event spaces. It has been generously donated by Mark E. Sackett\, Founder and Executive Creative Director at TheBoxSF.com\, Sackett Design and Reflectur.com. Learn more by following @theboxsfmercantile and @theboxsfevents on Instagram. \nExcited to support the WILD community? Click this link to donate.
