California Varietals: An exhibition on the intersection of craft, design and California
Exhibit will be open June 9-15, 2018 between the hours of 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
StudioCO, an Oakland-based design firm, has partnered with Baana, a new creative studio located in the Nob Hill neighborhood, to host a week-long exhibition celebrating new California design for the 2018 San Francisco Design Week. Join us for an opening reception at Baana on Friday, June 8th from 6 pm – 9 pm, and for artist talks and design panels throughout the week.
Curated by Trent Still, “California Varietals” will focus on expanding the narrative around California design by assembling work ranging from architecture, furniture, and graphics – to ceramics and product design that celebrate traditional craft, technology, and an aesthetic that is quintessentially California.
The participants all reflect a direct identity to what is known as California design while simultaneously creating their vernacular around the idea of design in the Golden State. Exhibitors will include, Julie Cloutier, Trent Still, Sara Paloma, Jared Rusten, Paige Russell + Nipomo, Matt Hutchinson, Danny Hess, Alice Weise, and Michael McConnell.
Can’t make the opening? You can visit the exhibition June 9-15, 2018 between the hours of 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
