We’re in a climate today where tech companies are constantly under fire for propagating fake news, radicalizing extremists, and providing forums for hate speech. Issues that were once relegated to user support and safety teams, are now considered mission critical. Product teams across the industry are building features to defend against abuse and bad actors.
However, at the same time, we’re seeing an influx of products that are leveraging the best of humanity. Designers are creating products that bring people together, mobilize against hate, and solve massive societal problems.
In this session, you’ll hear from designers working across this spectrum. On the one end, you’ll hear about projects designed to defend against negative trends on the internet. On the other, you’ll hear from designers working to rally people together and improve the world.
