With recent developments in brain-computer interfaces, it’s appearing more and more likely that a new generation of interfaces will be enabling people to control machines with simply their thoughts. As this technology begins to take shape, we think it’s a good time to have an open and honest discussion about its implications.
Our studio’s journey down this path started 2 years ago when we started a collaboration with Elon Musk’s Neuralink team to help design their first-generation wearable device as well as their first-generation surgical robot. Those projects got us thinking about what the world will look like when this technology becomes more commonplace and how we would want that future to look.
for SF Design Week, we’ll be hosting an expert panel to help challenge and understand how this new technology will not only shape the world but more specifically the world of Design.
By inviting panelists from a wide range of different industries, we hope attendees will come away with a richer understanding of the potential, both awesome and scary, of how this technology may impact both our lives and our jobs as designers.
