Join the design team at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative for an evening of talks on deepening purpose and reflecting on the power of diverse perspectives in one’s design practice. Learn how methods of co-creation and participatory design help to solve problems in the social impact space. This year in addition to our own Jenn Tang, Ash Grigas and Paul Derby we will be joined by a few of our partners: Nigel Poor, a visual artist turned podcaster; Caroline Hill, educator, designer, and co-founder of the Equity lab; and Vida Ahyong, Biohub scientist, bioinformatician, and technologist.
We will explore the question: what might it take for industry to shift from designing for to designing with? This exploration will be guided by stories of co-creation with incarcerated individuals in San Quentin state prison, designing educational products and policies alongside students and teachers, and collaborative methods to create tools to democratize scientific discovery.
Doors open at 6:00 with drinks and light fare, followed by lightning talks, Q&A, and networking.
