Event description

Innovation isn’t just for the Silicon Valley tech set! Innovation permeates our local design communities. Our panel includes Emily Pilloton, a TED stage presenter and the groundbreaking founder of Project H and Girls Garage, a Berkeley-based design-build program for girls, ages 9-17, whose motto is “Fear Less, Build More”. We’ll also hear from Amy Mu and Meghan Faulkner, co-founders of Local Language, an Oakland-based art, design and high tech fabrication and maker studio. Their monthly Artist-in-Residence program allows artists to experiment with emerging technologies. And you’ll meet Radha Mistry, who’s currently driving foresight initiatives at Autodesk Research. She’ll share how Autodesk is thinking about the future and the impact of emerging technologies, to understand how they will change the way people design and make things. Our all-female panel will be hosted at “Sphere”, a brand new, women-focused, co-working and wellness oasis in downtown Oakland, designed by Studio KDA. The panel will be moderated by Marites Abueg, Principal and Owner at Studio KDA. Delicious drinks and small bites will be served.
