When is design’s job finished?
The product development process has seen different iterations but the baseline has stayed the same. Empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. We’ve all seen some variation of that. Seldom do we talk about that space in between prototyping and testing, the between period design and development. How can designers help define the shipping process, continue learning and help product teams refine releases? What is a designer’s role once the UX is finished and handed off to engineering? Once designers are finished designing they become stewards of context, masters of team iteration, and continued learning.
In this talk Senior Product Designer Jason Branch presents how designers can use gaps in the product development process to continue learning, empowering the team, and defining the shipping process. Throughout the talk we’ll use real Earnest processes and case studies to showcase how designers can make the most of gaps in the process.
