San Francisco is home to one of the largest and most diverse public art collections in the country which consists ofmore than 4,000 art objects including: historic monuments, memorials, gifts to the city, purchases from the annual Art Festival (1946 to 1986) and, more recently, hundreds of contemporary artworks commissioned through the City’s Public Art Program.
