Krupa Paranjape
After my bachelors in painting and masters in textile design I worked as a design consultant and colorist for over 12 years in India before I moved to the Bay Area, where I started my own line of hand-embroidered, painted and hand-dyed decorative pillows, contemporary home decor, table linens and accessories using locally sourced fabrics and dyes, with motivation to design sustainable products inspired from nature and mostly dominated by birds, botanical drawings, trees and cacti. All the designs are hand-painted and embroidered by me in my home studio.
SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES
Materials & Ingredients
Natural fibers like cotton and linen. Textile dyes, which are water-soluble and are heat-set for color fastness. Natural Indigo vat to dye. Homemade Nori paste for Indigo resist. 100% cotton embroidery floss.
Packaging & Delivery
All the orders are packed in eco-friendly brown paper crafted from recyclable materials and 100 % biodegradable. All the local custom orders within 10 miles from my studio are hand delivered and the rest are sent by USPS mail.
Quality & Value
Fabrics are pre-washed for shrinkage before the designs are transferred on them for hand painting or embroidery. The paints used to hand paint work really well on the washed fabric and last long even after multiple washes.
Waste Reduction
All my fabric scraps are saved in a bin and used for various projects like patchwork and appliqué pillows, and textile jewelry made out of the tiny fabric scraps.
