Sweet July

Form + Field

Situated in uptown Oakland, Ayesha Curry’s Sweet July is a lifestyle and home goods store, cafe, and event space for the community. Received as an empty shell, the large open space was carved into 8 different zones through the careful placement of materials, furnishings, and fixtures to accommodate the complex programming. Flexibility drove the design of the pieces within the space: modularity and reconfigurability of shelving, racks, pedestals, and benching was critical to adapt to the ever-evolving wares on display, featuring Black-owned businesses and Bay Area makers. The overall space was unified through the use of grand gestures and a warm, cohesive palette of color and materials. Enlisting the talents of a host of local makers and artists, Form + Field’s design brings the Sweet July brand uniquely to life.
