A new tasting room for Auteur, overlooking forested slopes and the Russian River, offers an immersive experience where guests can engage with the surrounding landscape. A limestone-clad entry wall creates a visual threshold on arrival while organizing support spaces. Passing through the entry, the tasting room interior reveals panoramic views from every vantage point.
The 3,000 square-foot tasting room balances an intimate scale with the capacity to host large groups and varied events. Furniture is easily rearranged to accommodate different party sizes, while a private tasting room responds to our client’s desire for a dedicated space to hold curated experiences. A variety of wood species, including oak, cedar, and Douglas fir, bring warmth and texture to the interiors.
A clerestory, south-facing windows, and large sliding doors allow plentiful natural light and airflow. Deep roof overhangs and a 22-foot-long cantilever over the northwest terrace provide shade on warm afternoons. A blackened steel fireplace and hearth bench, made from a redwood log reclaimed from a trestle bridge in Northern California, create a comfortable gathering place in cool weather.
