Diffuse Reuse: Circular design lighting from recycled plastic

Anne Pauley

Diffuse Reuse focuses on creating lighting with unique diffusion patterns using 100% recycled PET plastic.

Phase 1 of the project is an exploration of design possibilities that take advantage of the diffusive properties of large-format 3D printing, while accommodating the material challenges of recycled PET.

The next phase of the project is focused on reclaiming and processing local material, creating a circular reuse process entirely contained within the bay area.

Additive Manufacturing Process

Near-100% material efficiency

Color Layering

Infinite color possibilities. Layered shells are separated for recycling

Unique Diffusion Pattern

Layered design cannot be manufactured using traditional methods. Diffuse Reuse embraces the process and prints using wide layers for unique diffusion quality
