HERO Index
Blink UX
Investment decisions are traditionally based largely on financial performance, regardless of how positive (or negative) a company’s impact on the world might be. More and more investors today want to invest in companies that align with their personal values — putting their money where their hearts are — and support companies who are positively impacting the world, through human rights, environmental sustainability, and other related issues. However, the tools don’t exist to make these types of values-based investment decisions easy. Company research is time-consuming and confusing; information is out of date, skewed, or simply unavailable — and overshadowed by financial performance.
Incubator startup HERO Index hopes to change this. It came to Blink for help to create a tool that supports investors in making better decisions based on their values. Furthermore, it wanted to promote the trend that companies who are having a positive impact on humanity are actually better long-term investments.
Through close collaboration, Blink and HERO Index created a vision for a product that facilitates finding companies to invest in that positively impact a variety of issues — including human rights and the environment — and demonstrates the benefits of values-based investing to the rest of the world.
During our eight-week engagement, we designed and prototyped an engaging, visually stunning web application, as well as a brand that reflects the company’s mission of preserving nature and making the world a better place for all. HERO Index is now using this work to obtain development funding.
Our design helps investors dive deep into extensive research on what a company says it values and how well it’s actually supporting those values, as well as detailed financial metrics in order to form a more complete picture of a company.
HERO Index tracks companies along six key value areas represented by simple, at-a-glance circular ratings. These ratings give investors a view of both positive and negative press about a company’s business practices and are an indicator of where to dig deeper. If investors are seeking ideas for companies to support, they can browse trending issues and sentiments, or they can filter across industry, values, metrics and dive into the latest supporting news and articles.
Whether starting with a particular company or looking for candidates, investors can rely on HERO Index to help make value-based investments simple, meaningful, and as delightful as making a positive impact should be.
