iii reimagines one of the most fundamental parts of how we interact daily with technology – typing. With only 5 keys and 1 dial, iii makes typing intuitive, responsive, and satisfying. Using Arduino and Processing, we built a portable prototype with clear physical and digital affordances, where people are able to easily type what’s on their mind with minimal effort. Our keyboard’s digital interface uses an ETAOINSHRDLU configuration, organised by the frequency of letter usage in common English words to test typing efficiency.
