Purchasing an 80-acre property in the Santa Lucia Preserve proved ideal for a couple’s nature-focused lifestyle. To better fit their contemporary taste, the existing hacienda-style house and traditional landscape were dramatically renovated with a contemporary edge. A finely curated collection of outdoor spaces offer a range of opportunities to relax, entertain and appreciate the oak woodland setting and mountain views.
The transformation of the property begins with a re-routed driveway and entry sequence. Olive trees, limestone pavers and the fern laden courtyard with a refinished fountain create a fresh introduction to the home. New outdoor rooms include an enclosed garden courtyard with meandering paths and a Carmel stone firepit, a vanishing-edge lap pool with an Ipe deck and yoga platform, a dining patio under a blackened steel arbor, an entertaining lounge off a bar patio with a stone and steel fire feature, and private patio at the primary suite behind a blackened steel screen.
