This extraordinary renovation transforms a 2008 prefabricated, panelized home by Zack de Vito Architecture by elevating every detail with painstaking care while paying homage to the original architecture.The client, an internationally recognized product designer, had admired the home for years. The interplay of architectural volume and expansive city views from the home’s three levels were of particular fascination. Though the architecture of the home was exceptional, the detailing and material palette reflected the previous owners’ sensibilities. The team worked closely with the client on a multiyear collaboration that brought keen eyes and exacting detail to the well-considered update. Since the client is a product designer himself, he desired a similar process when renovating his home. This meant every element was explored and created virtually or physically prototyped before any decision. The result is a residence that is crafted to the client’s needs, pared-down and transcendent.
