Walker Warner

Honorable Mention

Located on the island of Kaua’i, this home is designed for two avid surfers looking to embrace a healthy, outdoor lifestyle. Surrounded by jungle-capped cliffs and cloud-shrouded peaks, the understated architecture of this home, just steps away from the shore of Hanalei Bay, embraces a life lived outdoors, emphasizing the lush landscape and slow pace of its tropical surroundings. The architecture invites in the fragrances, breezes, and melodies that are unique to Hanalei, with the design creating a truly immersive living experience that reflects the essence of the island.

Clad in inky Shou Sugi San siding and topped with a sloping shed roof, the abode’s U-shaped form and crisp architecture surrounds a verdant courtyard and breezy lanai that function as the home’s epicenter. The home wraps around an exterior courtyard, ensuring you’re rarely more than a few steps from the cooling waters of the pool. From this relaxing perch you can soak in the sights and sounds of the island.
