Gantri is the world’s first digital manufacturer for designer lighting. Our mission is to completely reimagine the way lighting is developed, made and sold, collaborating with the world’s leading designers to create design-forward, functional pieces for your life. Founded in 2017 by Ian Yang, we’ve set out to address the fundamental problem with the design industry – that unique designs are too expensive. By producing on-demand with our sustainable materials, Gantri has made luxury lighting accessible to the market at large.
The Makers and Their Production Spaces
Gantri produces their lights in house at their factory in San Leandro, California.
The Manufacturing Process
Once a design is finalized, Gantri engineers leverage digital manufacturing technologies to produce lights on their custom 3D printers. Created largely on-demand, our manufacturing not only eliminates industrial inefficiencies such as tooling and waste materials, it’s made much closer to where you would actually use it – reducing unnecessary shipping pollution emitted from international transportation.
The Production Model
Digital manufacturing means Gantri produces on-demand and only as needed, minimizing waste. It allows us to produce locally, reducing shipping costs and cargo shipping pollution.
Gantri lights are made with Gantri Plant Polymers, the world’s first plant-based PLA blends engineered for premium lighting. Uniquely derived from sugar crops from suppliers that are committed to non-GMO and sustainable farming practices, our blends are custom-made to be durable, heat tolerant and diffuse light evenly. Our commitment to developing and using renewable materials has reduced carbon emissions by 75% per kilogram and also eliminates problematic plastic waste.
