The Makers and Their Production Spaces
As a designer and craftsperson I create most of the work in my Oakland, CA studio. Additionally, I work with local craftspeople for certain parts and outside processes, and with an Amish woodshop in Pennsylvania for some small batch production.
The Making Process
My work is handcrafted and rooted in a woodworking studio that branches into a variety other processes and materials such as textiles, metals, paper and more, and which utilizes both traditional and modern fabrication techniques.
The Production Model
My production model ranges from one-of-a-kind, limited edition and small-scale production. I work directly with clients to create functional or sculptural work to meets each project’s specific needs.
The Materials
Much of my work is built from solid wood, a durable, renewable resource, that ages well, and which can be salvaged or locally sourced. As I also enjoy working with a range of materials, projects are sometimes motivated by specific production methods, available resources, or functional needs. My exploratory practice allows for an evolving approach and expanding material repertoire.
