Fyrn
Fyrn is a Planet-First Design company that has developed an innovative system of furniture utilizing patented hardware to produce everlasting products. We are on a mission to reduce the consumption of disposable goods that lead to excessive waste, and connect consumers to the stories of the people, materials, and processes behind sustainable American manufacturing.
The Makers and Their Production Spaces
Our furniture is designed and made by a small, dedicated team of about 10 people working out of our production facility in the Mission District of SF.
The Making Process
Our team leverages a series of proprietary machines that are designed and built in-house, bringing craftsmanship and technology together to allow for scalable manufacturing of high-quality furniture. We utilize a 4-axis CNC to produce the stemn brackets, which are the signature visual element of the furniture. We also have a small network of domestic suppliers that produce some of our components and/or perform elements of production such as anodizing.
The Production Model
Our furniture system consists of durable, fully replaceable parts and pieces that enable us to produce sustainably, with minimal waste, and allow us to easily support the repair, refurbishment, and resale of our products.
The Materials
We use simple, natural materials in the production of our furniture. Primarily relying on North American hardwoods sourced from sustainably managed forests, anodized aluminum, and steel components which are sourced domestically with excess material being recyclable. No particleboard, vinyl, or plastics, and our packaging can be recycled.
