Harvest & Mill makes organic cotton clothing that is exclusively grown, milled, designed and sewn in the USA. We are rebuilding American textile supply chains through clean and ethical practices. We work directly with USA organic cotton farmers, American Heritage Mills, the San Francisco Bay Area sewing community and designers to create meaningful, sustainable and beautiful organic cotton clothing.

The Makers and Their Spaces
Our clothing is sewn in the San Francisco Bay Area by our local sewing community in small-scale family owned and run factories. We design our clothing at our studio. Artist Series pieces are made at the artists’ workshops.

The Making Process
Harvest & Mill clothing is sewn locally using only USA knit fabric, the fabric is made with yarn that is spun in the USA and the yarn is made with organic cotton that is grown in the USA. Our manufacturing process is fundamentally a collaboration with a wide range of artisans, engineers, designers and technicians that all work together to make the American textile community.

The Production Model
Harvest & Mill’s production model is material-driven, place-based and founded on a personal relationship with our supply chain partners. We only use organic cotton that is grown and completely milled within the USA and then sewn locally. Within the very fiber of our clothing, we share the story of American manufacturing and the communities that keep that legacy alive. For Artist Series pieces, we work with dye artists that organically grow their own dye materials on their farm or sustainably forage their dye materials locally and whose artistic process involves a connection to the origins of their dye materials. For other limited-edition pieces, we use rare heirloom cotton varieties that are grown in very small batches in certain regions of the USA.

The Materials
Our raw materials and our design process are at the heart of Harvest & Mill. Our mission is to not only create sustainable clothing but to rebuild USA supply chains and reimagine how clothing is designed and made. All of our materials are non-toxic. All of our clothing is completely carbon neutral. We use only USA grown organic cotton that is exclusively grown and milled in the USA. Through our intentional selection of materials, supply chain partners and our design philosophy, we are able to radically decrease the distance our raw materials travel, decrease the carbon footprint of our clothing and create positive change in local communities.
