TKID
Tracey Kessler is known for her multidisciplinary practice that extends beyond design to include painting and ceramics. Her use of pre-existing materials, found objects and organic, natural materials are used together to combine a multitude of art making and design products. Varied painting surfaces and modes of construction create textural and visually stimulating works.
The Maker and Their Production Space
Products are made by Tracey Kessler in her Sausalito studio.
The Making Process
My processes are all done by hand. I purchase clay locally from Claypeople in Richmond, CA and fire the pieces in my studio. For textiles, I print on 100% organic, hemp linen and do not stock the products. Everything is made-to-order which is a great way to ensure sales are made and product is not sitting in inventory. The fiber art pieces are often recycled and installation art is completed on site.
The Production Model
Everything is made-to-order which is a great way to ensure sales are made and product is not sitting in inventory. The fiber art pieces are often recycled from textile waste and found objects.
The Materials
I use organic, up-cycled products a majority of the time and try to make my business and myself have a low carbon footprint on the earth.
