Acclaimed design editor Zahid Sardar will interview top industrial designer Robert Brunner to explore hot industry topics in a new webcast series, “SPOTLIGHT WITH ZAHID SARDAR”. During this session, Brunner will discuss his brand defining product design from the seminal work of his early days at Apple, and helping to create Beats by Dre headphones, to more recent products for companies including Ember, Gantri and Polaroid.

Robert Brunner founded San Francisco-based design studio Ammunition in 2007 to communicate ideas through products, brands, and their surrounding experiences. His work as an industrial designer has spawned numerous brand defining designs over the past three decades for clients including Adobe, Beats by Dre, Barnes & Noble, Polaroid, Square, and Williams-Sonoma, among others.

Prior to founding Ammunition, Robert was a partner at Pentagram and led strategic brand consulting and industrial design programs for Fortune 500 companies. Previously, he was the Director of Industrial Design for Apple, where he established its pioneering internal corporate design organization, Apple IDg. Robert is also a co-founder of design consultancy Lunar. As Chief Designer for Beats by Dr. Dre, he helped the company become the top consumer audio brand
in the world. Named one of Fast Company’s “Most Creative People in Business,” Robert’s work is included in the permanent design collections of the MoMA in both New York and San Francisco. He is the co-author of the book “Do You Matter? How Great Design Will Make People Love Your Company.”

ZAHID SARDAR is a San Francisco-based editor, writer, and curator specializing in architecture, interiors, and design. He has authored many design books, curated exhibitions, and was the San Francisco Chronicle’s design editor for 20 years. Most recently he was the editor-in-chief of Spaces Magazine. His work has also appeared in New York Times, Dwell, Interiors, Western Interiors & Design, Interior Design, House & Garden, Elle Decor, House Beautiful, and Landscape Architecture. He has taught design history at the California College of the Arts and has written several other books, including “In & Out of Paris: Gardens of Secret Delights”, “West Coast Modern” and “New Garden Design”.
