June 10 @ 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm
The Museum of Craft and Design returns to Bayview-Hunters Point for a celebration of PRIDE, Father’s Day, and SF Design Week 2023!
Meet us at the Pop-Up Village– a site activation that harnesses the power of design to catalyze the magic that emerges when people and programs come together in public space. The Pop-Up Village features a constellation of dynamic programming — health and wellness, youth and family, retail, food, and education resources — in customized buses, vans, pop-up shops, furniture, and other types of mobile architecture and nature.
MCD is joined by “Fight and Flight” exhibiting artist, Ramekon O’Arwisters, whose interactive, hands-on Crochet Jam uses the folk-art tradition of crocheting strips of fabric into free-form and organic soft sculptures to foster social interaction, creativity, and liberation. Allow yourself to escape into creative process uninhibited by expectations! Basic instruction in crochet will be provided.
The Pop-Up Village is an architecture project of Oakland-based Designing Justice + Designing Spaces, and seeks to bring regenerative design back into the hands of community. Place matters.
All-ages welcome, event and project FREE
