Terms & Conditions for the SF Design Awards
To merit consideration as a Qualified Entry, the Work must meet all of the following criteria
Entry Requirements:
Entrant must be a design professional or have background/work experience in design. To enter as a student, one must be able to provide full-time enrollment status. To enter as a non-profit you must be a registered non-profit.
The Work must be submitted through our official online system. Entries will NOT be accepted via physical delivery.
- You may edit your entry after submitting, up until the entry deadline.
- Please make sure all your personal details are entered accurately, including contact details, as this will be used in the awards presentation if selected as a finalist.
- You are eligible to enter more than one category, as long as the work submitted meets the criteria.
- You can use the ‘copy’ feature to create a copy of your entry and change the category as required.
- Entry fees may be paid by credit card only and must be paid online at time of completing submissions. If your submissions have not been paid for at close of entry they may not be included for judging.
The Work must not be inappropriate, libelous or defamatory, harassing, abusive, threatening, harmful, vulgar, profane, excessively violent, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable or offensive, obscene, pornographic, or sexually explicit.
All submissions must be designed by the Entrant or belong to a team in which Entrant is the lead. By entering the Show, the Entrant represents, acknowledges, and warrants that the submitted work is the work designed by the Entrant, that the work does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the work. Entries that are accepted for the show that contain brand names, trademarks or company logos require permission from the company to exhibit.
The work must not involve physical harm to any person or animal. The work may not use any watermarks or artist signatures.
Refunds:
No refunds will be given for any application that has already been entered. If you have any concerns regarding our fees and/or the application, please contact awards@sfdesignweek.org PRIOR to entering this application. Absolutely no refunds will be granted.
We reserve the right to cancel, modify or suspend SF Design Awards and associated designations for any causes beyond the control of SFDW that impact the effective administration, proper conduct, or integrity of the SF Design Awards. If this type of event should occur, SFDW will post notice as soon as possible on the SF Design Week website.

Entering this application does not guarantee selection as a finalist or winner
Security and Liability:
The accepted applicant’s displays will be set up in a secure space at the Design Hub, however, SFDW is not responsible for damage or loss to work if incurred.
In the event the work is accepted, the Entrant accepts full responsibility for the setup and takedown of their work for the show that complies with the Show regulations. The Entrant does not have to be present for the show, though it is strongly encouraged.
I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SFDW, its parents, subsidiaries, and affiliates, and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, and employees from any and all responsibility or liability arising out of or in connection with: (a) any breach of my representations or warranties contained herein; and (b) my violation of these Terms and Conditions and any guidelines, policies and terms prescribed by SFDW.
Intellectual Property And License:
All works submitted will remain the exclusive property of the Entrant. SFDW will have the right to use all of the Works submitted as part of the Show, and all images depicted therein, in any promotion or for any non-commercial purpose. By submitting the Work, the Entrant grants SFDW the non-exclusive, unlimited and royalty-free rights to publish in all media now known or hereafter discovered, and publicly display all Work as Recipients of the Award for an unlimited period and worldwide.
I consent to San Francisco Design Week’s use of my name, likeness, and similar characteristics for the purpose of advertising, selling, or otherwise promoting SFDW. I understand and agree that there will be no financial or other monetary compensation for such use.
San Francisco Design Week Awards will be governed by, and these Terms and Conditions will be interpreted by and enforced in accordance with, the laws of the State of California and applicable United States federal law, without regard to any conflicts of laws principles.
