Studio O+A
As one of the tech industry’s founding giants, Microsoft knows its prosperity depends on an ability to anticipate the impact innovative technologies will have on the future and how they will change the way we live. Studio O+A ’s remodel of Microsoft’s Envisioning Center focused on adaptability. Given the speed of change in the tech world, we believed a prototyping lab should be able to change shape as quickly as a prototyper changes focus. The modular stadium seating in this project was designed to meet the challenge of each new day. The Next Generation Meeting Hexagon allowed multi-dimensional interaction between in-person participants, off-site participants and live tech info walls. If the brightness and playfulness of the space suggest a school science lab, that’s not an accident. Our design sought to create an environment that encouraged the passion for experimentation that animates a physics class or a team of project-oriented biologists.
